Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist, or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Proven experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in K-12 educational environments
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL), with the ability to adapt communication to individual student needs
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to work alongside teachers, families, and support staff
- Commitment to cultivating an inclusive, positive educational environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support tailored to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in partnership with school teams and families
- Consult with classroom teachers on effective strategies and classroom accommodations
- Utilize a variety of resources and assistive technologies to foster student engagement and understanding
- Advocate for student needs and ensure access to academic and extracurricular opportunities
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed, maintaining clear and timely communication with stakeholders
