Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist, or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Proven experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in K-12 educational environments
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL), with the ability to adapt communication to individual student needs
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to work alongside teachers, families, and support staff
  • Commitment to cultivating an inclusive, positive educational environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support tailored to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in partnership with school teams and families
  • Consult with classroom teachers on effective strategies and classroom accommodations
  • Utilize a variety of resources and assistive technologies to foster student engagement and understanding
  • Advocate for student needs and ensure access to academic and extracurricular opportunities
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed, maintaining clear and timely communication with stakeholders
