Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Strong understanding of instructional methodologies for students with hearing impairments
- Proficiency with assistive technologies, auditory/verbal strategies, and sign language as needed
- Experience creating and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills for students and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various educational settings
- Assess individual student needs and tailor educational plans accordingly
- Consult with classroom teachers to modify curriculum materials and support inclusive instruction
- Facilitate access to assistive listening devices and other technology
- Monitor student progress and keep detailed records for meetings and evaluations
- Serve as a resource for staff and families, offering guidance and strategies for optimal student outcomes
