Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist and Teacher. Based near San Mateo, California, this role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact across multiple school sites. With a caseload of 20-28 students ranging from TK to age 22, you’ll collaborate with a diverse community, fostering communication and learning for students of varying needs.
This contract runs from August 7 through June 4, totaling 35 hours per week. You will serve 15 different school sites, providing vital support and guidance to students, staff, and families.
Key Qualifications:
- Hold a valid certification or credential as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Proven experience with school-aged students, including assessment and IEP development
- Strong understanding of auditory and speech development needs
- Skilled in sign language and various assistive technology
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
- Adaptability for travel across multiple sites
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and specialized services for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to support student progress
- Consult and provide resources to school staff to enhance accessibility and inclusion
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Engage with students from TK through transition age, adapting approaches as needed
