Location: Nashville
Schedule: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week
Work Days: Monday–Friday
School Year: NSY (Normal School Year)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to provide specialized educational services and support to students with hearing impairments across K–12 settings. Assignments may vary based on district needs, with services provided through established DHH hub programs serving Pre-K through Elementary students and a newly established Middle School hub. Caseloads and school assignments will vary depending on student needs and placement.
Essential Responsibilities
Provide direct instruction and specialized educational support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and communication methods to meet individual student needs.
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families.
Utilize appropriate assistive technology, accommodations, and communication strategies to promote student success.
Conduct ongoing assessments and maintain accurate student records and progress documentation.
Support students' academic, communication, social, and functional skill development.
Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development activities.
Travel between assigned schools as required by the district.

Caseload: K–12 students
School Assignments: Varies by district need and student placement
District utilizes DHH hub programs for Pre-K through Elementary students and is expanding services with a Middle School hub.
Number of schools assigned will vary by assignment.
Qualifications
Active Tennessee Department of Education (TN DOE) certification with Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement required.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or related field preferred.
Knowledge of hearing loss, assistive listening devices, accommodations, and instructional strategies for DHH students.
Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
Experience working with school-aged students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred.
Preferred Skills
Experience supporting students across multiple grade levels.
Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL), auditory/oral approaches, and total communication methods.
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary educational teams.
Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations.
