Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or eligibility to obtain
- Solid knowledge of instructional techniques for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with staff, parents, and service providers
- Ability to adapt lessons and curriculum to meet a diversity of learning needs
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive classroom environment
- Experience with assistive technology and auditory/oral, total communication, or ASL methodologies is a plus
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, both individually and in group settings
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate varying student needs
- Advocate for student access and inclusion within the school community
- Maintain ongoing communication with families and staff regarding student progress
- Participate in professional development to remain current on best practices in deaf education
