Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Active Tennessee Department of Education teaching certificate required
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing strongly preferred
- School-based experience valued (0-10+ years welcome)
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies for a diverse K-12 caseload
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with students, families, and school teams
- Must complete a background check and scheduled fingerprinting prior to start date
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and consultative services for K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Work collaboratively with staff and families to implement IEPs and develop goals
- Adapt curriculum materials and instructional methods to support student success
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, maintaining thorough and accurate documentation
- Assignments may vary by school or student need, offering a dynamic work experience
This position offers a competitive pay structure based on years of school experience (starting at $40 per hour for newer professionals, with increases for more experienced candidates).
