Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state-specific credentials required)
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other visual communication methods
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and accommodations for students with hearing loss
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and general education staff
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver differentiated instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with legal and district requirements
- Advocate for students’ access to curriculum, social integration, and participation in classroom activities
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings with parents, support staff, and administrators regarding student progress and service planning
- Stay current with best practices and developments in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
