Desired Qualifications:
- Current teaching certification with endorsement for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility)
- Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and understanding of auditory/oral methodologies
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, students, and parents
- Adaptability in delivering both direct and consultative services across multiple grade levels
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique learning needs
- Provide direct instruction using appropriate communication modes and resources
- Adapt curriculum materials to ensure accessibility for each student
- Consult with classroom teachers to integrate supportive strategies and modifications
- Advocate for students’ needs and foster an inclusive classroom environment
- Monitor progress and regularly communicate with families and school staff
- Stay current on best practices and emerging technologies within deaf education
