Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Binghamton, NY
Support students of all ages in an educational environment as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for certification)
- Experience working with children or youth who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Solid understanding of educational accommodations and assistive technology
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with school staff and families
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred, but not required
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a variety of school settings
- Develop, modify, and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and support integration
- Monitor student progress and provide regular updates to parents and staff
- Advocate for student access to communication supports, technology, and resources
- Participate in IEP meetings, teacher conferences, and professional development
