Qualifications and Experience:
- Current certification or eligibility to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in New York
- Proven experience in classroom or itinerant teaching roles for students with hearing loss
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes used with D/HH populations
- Familiarity with IEP development and progress monitoring
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with educators, families, and related service providers
- Experience supporting students with diverse needs and backgrounds is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction tailored to the unique learning needs of D/HH students across various grade levels
- Adapt curriculum, materials, and assessments to promote full participation and understanding
- Conduct ongoing assessments and contribute to educational planning through IEP processes
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment, promoting advocacy and self-esteem
- Partner with classroom teachers and therapists to facilitate effective accommodations and modifications
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about progress and strategies for success
