Desired Qualifications:
- Valid state certification/license as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with hearing loss in educational settings, preferably within K-12 schools
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong understanding of assistive technology and accommodations for access to curriculum
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting lesson plans and teaching strategies as needed
- Assess student progress and modify teaching approaches for optimal learning outcomes
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to implement effective accommodations and modifications
- Advocate for students’ needs to promote access and inclusion across school settings
- Participate in IEP meetings, team planning, and professional development activities
- Offer consultation and training to staff and families regarding best practices for communication and inclusion
- Maintain accurate records and document student progress comprehensively and confidentially
