Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification or credential to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Experience working within schools or educational programs serving students with hearing loss
  • Strong understanding of auditory, communication, and language development for DHH students
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities as applicable
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary education teams, families, and support staff
  • Solid organizational and documentation skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
  • Adapt educational materials and classroom instruction to facilitate language access and comprehension
  • Provide direct instruction, support, and advocacy for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in mainstream and specialized settings
  • Consult with general education teachers to modify curricula, promote inclusivity, and ensure accommodations
  • Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment that encourages student growth and self-advocacy
  • Work closely with parents, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and other related service providers
  • Track progress and maintain up-to-date records, reporting on student outcomes as required
