Make a significant impact supporting students across San Francisco as an itinerant Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Partner with schools primarily in the Richmond area and play a vital role in helping students from early childhood through transition ages reach their fullest educational potential. This contract position is on-site only and runs from August 11, 2026, through June 2, 2027, offering a 35-hour workweek and a dynamic, district-wide consultative caseload.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current DHH teaching credential and California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) clearance required
  • Demonstrated experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in educational settings
  • Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs), assistive technology, and communication methods (e.g., ASL, spoken English, total communication)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general and special education staff, families, and related service providers
  • Organized, self-motivated, and adaptable—comfortable traveling between various school sites
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and consultative skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise and support for students with hearing loss, tailoring services to individual needs and creating inclusive learning environments
  • Consult with educators, administrators, and families to develop and implement appropriate accommodations and modifications
  • Assist with assessment, goal setting, and ongoing monitoring for each student’s progress
  • Deliver both direct and consultative services, including instructional strategies, classroom recommendations, and staff training
  • Advocate for students’ access, communication needs, and integration in school activities
