Step into a meaningful contract position supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the vibrant Nashville area. This full-time role is centered in a northern suburb and serves a dynamic school district with established hubs for early education and the exciting addition of a new middle school site. You'll work with K-12 learners, tailoring your approach based on evolving student needs and primarily providing consultative services.
As a valued educator, you'll be part of a close-knit community that values collaboration and expertise in working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. With the variety in assignments and caseloads, you'll have the opportunity to make a direct impact across several school sites.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid active Tennessee Department of Education Certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing teaching
- Experience supporting K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, ideally with consultative models
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Willingness to complete state fingerprinting and emerging district credentialing requirements prior to start date
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and consultation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across K-12 settings
- Collaborate with general educators, school teams, and families to develop and implement effective strategies and accommodations
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, assessments, and progress monitoring
- Adapt instruction to diverse learning environments and student needs
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in alignment with district guidelines
