Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Adams, TN
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by providing vital services as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in the greater Nashville area. This contract position begins August 3, 2026, and continues through May 28, 2027, following the local school calendar. You'll work full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, supporting K-12 students across multiple school sites, including district hubs for Pre-K through Middle School. While most services have been consultative, your expertise will help meet evolving needs as the district expands its offerings for the new school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Current and active Tennessee Department of Education Certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Strong background working with DHH students in school settings, K–12
- Experience in consultative roles or direct instruction, with an ability to flex based on caseload needs
- Up-to-date fingerprinting, or willingness to complete Tennessee state fingerprinting requirements promptly
- Skilled collaborator, able to partner with general and special educators, families, and support staff
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management abilities
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative educational support to DHH students
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations
- Serve one or more schools, working within district DHH hubs as assigned
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure students' academic and social success
- Offer expertise in assistive technology and classroom accessibility
- Support and coach classroom staff to implement inclusive strategies
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with district and regulatory standards
