Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities commonly used in Deaf/Hard of Hearing programs
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to utilize assistive technology and adapt curriculum to maximize accessibility and engagement
- Previous experience in K–12 educational settings preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, both individually and in group settings
- Adapt curriculum and employ instructional strategies tailored to each student’s learning needs and communication styles
- Consult regularly with classroom teachers and staff to ensure integration and success of students within the general education environment
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and contribute to ongoing IEP development and meetings
- Advocate for student needs, providing guidance to families and support personnel as appropriate
- Stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
