DHH Teacher | New Orleans, Louisiana

Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably in a school environment
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn
- Knowledge of assistive technology and accommodations for sensory impairments
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to adapt lessons to meet diverse learning needs and IEP goals
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, tailoring strategies to individual needs
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with established curriculum and IEP objectives
- Foster a supportive, accessible classroom environment where all students feel valued
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, speech/language pathologists, and other support staff
- Communicate regularly with families to promote student success
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and required documentation
