Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or related field
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication strategies for students with hearing impairments
- Experience working in a school setting, preferably with K-12 populations
- Strong ability to adapt instructional methods to suit individual needs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with teachers, parents, and support staff
- Understanding of relevant technology and assistive devices is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in alignment with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Develop and implement tailored lesson plans that support diverse learning styles
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and participate in IEP meetings
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students and families, ensuring awareness of appropriate accommodations
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere that promotes self-advocacy
