Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Kenner, LA

Qualifications & Desired Background:
- Certified as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligible for certification
- Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of auditory and communication development
- Knowledge of assistive hearing technology and relevant accommodations
- Ability to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt the curriculum as needed
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both colleagues and families
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly preferred
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Develop and implement personalized lesson plans tailored to each student's unique needs
- Assess student progress, monitor learning goals, and adjust strategies accordingly
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, specialists, and related service providers
- Provide direct instruction in language development and communication skills
- Advocate for students’ needs and accommodations within the school setting
- Regularly engage with parents, caregivers, and school teams to share student progress and resources
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing student evaluation and planning
