Teacher of the Deaf in Havana, FL

A dedicated educator is needed to cover a maternity leave from around October 26 through February 8, 2027. In this itinerant role, you will collaborate with a team of three other professionals, working together to ensure students receive the instruction, advocacy, and resources necessary for their academic and social success.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) education
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in school settings
- Solid understanding of various communication methods, including ASL, oral, and total communication
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, families, and students
- Flexibility to work across multiple school sites as part of an itinerant service model
- Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across varied grade levels
- Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting strategies to meet unique communication and learning needs
- Coordinate and collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and other service providers
- Assist in the development and implementation of IEPs to align with students’ specific requirements
- Serve as a resource for staff and families regarding DHH education, accommodations, and advocacy
- Support the transition needs of students between grades and schools
