Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Quincy, FL
Make a positive impact by supporting students and ensuring continuity of services as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing on a contract assignment near Quincy, FL. This opportunity will have you covering a maternity leave from approximately October 26 through February 8, 2027. As part of a collaborative team of three Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, you’ll work in an itinerant capacity, providing specialized instruction and support across multiple school sites.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Professional certification or licensure in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education, or eligibility to obtain
- Previous experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a K-12 setting
- Strong understanding of language development, communication modalities (ASL, sign-supported speech, oral), and auditory technology
- Ability to create individualized educational plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working with school staff, students, and families
- Flexibility and organizational skills to manage an itinerant caseload
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborate with general education staff, families, and related service providers to support student needs
- Assist with IEP development, progress monitoring, and documentation
- Provide consultation and resources to classroom teachers, ensuring an inclusive learning environment
- Travel between assigned schools as part of the itinerant team
- Participate in professional development and team planning meetings
