As a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, you’ll help foster an accessible, inclusive educational environment. Your expertise will ensure students of varying ages gain the communication skills, confidence, and support they need to thrive in both academic and social settings. Contracted as a W-2 hourly employee, you’ll enjoy a professional partnership while serving a diverse community of learners.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Massachusetts educator license as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
  • Experience working with students ranging from early childhood through young adult transitions (PreK–Age 22)
  • Knowledge of a variety of communication modalities and adaptive technologies for DHH populations
  • Strong collaborative skills to consult with educational teams, families, and specialists
  • Ability to assess, implement, and adjust individualized education plans (IEPs) according to student needs
  • Commitment to cultural competency and accessibility in education

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction tailored to each student’s learning plan and communication preferences
  • Develop and modify lesson plans to support language, social, and academic growth
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to create inclusive, supportive classrooms
  • Offer consultative guidance to teachers and staff on best practices for DHH learners
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for student progress monitoring and IEPs
