Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Valid Massachusetts Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing certification (DHH)
- Previous experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing, especially within school settings
- Strong foundation in differentiating instruction for diverse learners across PreK–age 22
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for effective collaboration with staff, students, and families
- Familiarity with current best practices, assistive technologies, and accommodations for DHH students
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various educational settings
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring that learning goals are tailored to each student’s needs
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams, including general educators, support staff, and families, to advocate for and facilitate optimal learning experiences
- Use a range of instructional strategies and technology to engage students and enhance accessibility
- Monitor student progress, maintain records, and communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding student growth and needs
- Consult with staff on classroom modifications, inclusion strategies, and best practices for serving students with hearing loss
