Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Holyoke, Massachusetts

Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Previous experience working in educational environments supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong understanding of various communication modes, including American Sign Language (ASL), auditory/oral approaches, and total communication
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting lessons to accommodate individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Assess student progress, monitor outcomes, and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Offer consultative support to general education teachers and staff to promote accessible learning environments
- Facilitate communication between students, staff, and families
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing educational planning
