As a specialist in the field, you’ll serve students in various school settings, providing direct instruction, consultation, and advocacy to ensure optimal access to the academic curriculum. Working approximately 16-18 hours each week on a W-2 hourly contract, you’ll collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to remove barriers and foster inclusive learning environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing license or eligibility
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in school settings
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Competency in adapting instructional materials and employing technology for accessibility
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and consult with general education teachers
- Passion for promoting self-advocacy and independence in students
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to support students’ communication and learning needs
- Assess language, academic, and social skills to inform instruction and accommodations
- Collaborate with school staff, related service providers, and families
- Adapt classroom materials and utilize assistive technologies
- Attend and participate in IEP meetings and maintain required documentation
