What We’re Looking For:
- Active certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state credentials required)
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, in mainstream or specialized classroom settings
- Strong understanding of deaf education best practices, including direct instruction, language development, and assistive technology
- Ability to develop and adapt instructional materials based on individual student needs
- Proficiency in sign language (ASL or other as appropriate), and effective communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
- Flexible, collaborative approach with a passion for inclusive education
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, individually and in small groups
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create accessible learning environments
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, progress monitoring, and data-driven instruction
- Advocate for students’ needs and facilitate their inclusion in the educational community
- Support families with resources, strategies, and guidance for student success
- Promote awareness and understanding of hearing impairments among school staff and peers
