Bilingual Therapies Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Contract Today Apply

Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a dynamic contract opportunity. Working onsite, you’ll collaborate directly with students across an entire county, rather than in a single classroom or building. Your expertise will help approximately 30 students, including individuals utilizing cochlear implants, access their education and reach their fullest potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to deaf and hard of hearing students within various schools throughout the county
  • Adapt lesson plans and teaching strategies to accommodate a wide range of communication methods and needs
  • Work one-on-one and in small groups to support academic achievement, communication development, and social-emotional growth
  • Coordinate with general and special education staff, families, and external specialists to support student success
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Travel between sites, ensuring regular and meaningful contact with all assigned students
  • Provide guidance and resources to classroom staff on deaf and hard of hearing accommodations
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices and technology in the field

Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching credential for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialization (as required by the state)
  • Previous experience with deaf and hard of hearing students across a variety of settings
  • Familiarity with cochlear implants and related strategies for student support
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfort traveling and managing responsibilities in multiple school settings
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
