Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a dynamic contract opportunity. Working onsite, you’ll collaborate directly with students across an entire county, rather than in a single classroom or building. Your expertise will help approximately 30 students, including individuals utilizing cochlear implants, access their education and reach their fullest potential.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to deaf and hard of hearing students within various schools throughout the county
- Adapt lesson plans and teaching strategies to accommodate a wide range of communication methods and needs
- Work one-on-one and in small groups to support academic achievement, communication development, and social-emotional growth
- Coordinate with general and special education staff, families, and external specialists to support student success
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Travel between sites, ensuring regular and meaningful contact with all assigned students
- Provide guidance and resources to classroom staff on deaf and hard of hearing accommodations
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices and technology in the field
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credential for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialization (as required by the state)
- Previous experience with deaf and hard of hearing students across a variety of settings
- Familiarity with cochlear implants and related strategies for student support
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Comfort traveling and managing responsibilities in multiple school settings
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
