Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience supporting students with hearing loss in grades K-8 preferred
- Strong understanding of deaf education methodologies, assistive technology, and communication supports
- Ability to create individualized instructional strategies tailored to diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for partnering with staff, families, and related service providers
- Flexibility to travel between assigned school sites
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction, intervention, and support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in both junior high and elementary school settings
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in coordination with multidisciplinary teams
- Utilize a variety of instructional materials, technologies, and communication modes (including sign language) based on each student's needs
- Monitor and document student progress, providing regular updates to parents and school staff
- Offer consultation, guidance, and professional development to general education teachers and aides
- Support integration and participation of students in classroom and extracurricular activities
