Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid Standard Professional Certificate, meeting state requirements
- Completed Endorsement for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (K-12)
- Current IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Experience teaching or supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Knowledge of best practices in deaf education, including language access, accommodations, and assistive technology
- Comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that support each student’s communication, academic, and social-emotional needs
- Offer direct instruction adapted for deaf/hard of hearing students using a variety of communication modes
- Monitor student progress and document achievements using assessment tools and regular reporting
- Consult with general education teachers and other professionals to support student integration and success
- Act as an advocate for students, promoting accessible classroom environments and resources
- Facilitate communication between school staff, students, and families regarding student needs and progress
