Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Arlington, Texas
Make a meaningful difference supporting students as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist on a contract basis. This critical service role provides you the opportunity to foster communication access and educational success for students with hearing differences.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents in educational settings
- Strong understanding of assistive technology and communication modalities
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Commitment to promoting inclusivity in learning environments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs and determine the best support strategies to facilitate learning and participation
- Work in partnership with teachers, families, and other specialists to develop appropriate instructional plans and accommodations
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments
- Offer training and consultation to school staff to build capacity for inclusive education
- Monitor student progress and update educational plans as necessary
- Advocate for students to ensure equitable access to curriculum and extracurricular activities
