Empower students with hearing challenges by providing specialized support as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist in a welcoming educational environment. What You'll Do:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring participation in the general education curriculum.
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff to develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs).
- Conduct assessments and ongoing evaluations to determine students’ needs and progress.
- Deliver instruction in communication methods appropriate for students, such as sign language or auditory/oral approaches.
- Advocate for inclusion and accessibility within the school or district setting.
- Offer training and resources for staff on best practices to support students with hearing loss.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with state and federal guidelines.
What We’re Seeking:
- Licensure or certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist (or eligibility).
- Experience working with children or adolescents with hearing loss in a school setting preferred.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and various communication modes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with teachers, families, and specialists.
- Familiarity with IEP process and relevant laws relating to special education.
