Use your expertise to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), adapt curriculum, and foster effective communication among students, families, and staff.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist, or eligibility to obtain it
- Experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities
- Knowledge of current best practices in deaf education, including assistive technology and accommodations
- Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to create and maintain positive, supportive relationships with students and their families
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess student skills and needs; design and implement specialized instructional strategies
- Provide direct and consultative educational services to students with hearing impairments, both individually and in group settings
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other professionals to facilitate student success
- Advocate for students’ needs and ensure access to appropriate resources and accommodations
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to IEP development and reviews
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and progress reports
