Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with school-age children in educational settings
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods as appropriate
- Solid understanding of IEP development, implementation, and evaluation
- Strong communication and consultative skills for collaborating with students, families, and school personnel
- Commitment to fostering independence and confidence in students with hearing differences
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Support classroom teachers and staff with strategies and resources for accessibility and inclusion
- Collaborate with audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and other specialists to address each student’s unique communication needs
- Deliver training sessions for faculty and families to expand understanding and use of accommodations
- Advocate for students to ensure equal access to curriculum, technology, and extracurricular activities
- Regularly monitor progress and contribute to team meetings to review student goals
