Key Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois teaching certification with Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement
- Previous experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH), preferably in a school environment
- Strong understanding of assistive technology and strategies to support communication and language development
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration and advocacy
- Ability to adapt materials and instruction to suit individual student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services for DHH students across K-12 settings
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to implement effective accommodations and modifications
- Develop and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure appropriate documentation
- Support student participation and engagement in both academic and social-emotional activities
- Offer resources and training to faculty and parents to promote effective communication strategies
- Assess student progress and modify services as needed to maximize growth
