Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure appropriate for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialists or Teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary educational teams, students, and parents
- Demonstrated experience adapting curriculum and instruction to meet the diverse needs of DHH students
- Proficiency with assistive technology and accommodations for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Deep commitment to educational equity and fostering an inclusive academic environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, both in individual and group settings
- Assess student abilities and needs, helping to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Act as a knowledgeable resource to staff and families, ensuring awareness of best practices for DHH education
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt teaching strategies and materials to support student success
- Provide guidance on the use of FM systems, cochlear implants, and related equipment to optimize learning
- Monitor progress and maintain detailed records in compliance with district and state requirements
