Desired Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher
- Comprehensive understanding of language development for DHH students
- Experience utilizing assistive listening devices and interpreting Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, staff, and families
- Flexibility to travel between locations as required
- Previous experience in a school-based setting is highly valued
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in individual and group settings
- Develop, implement, and adapt instructional materials to meet diverse communication preferences and learning needs
- Participate actively in IEP meetings, providing insights and recommendations for best practices
- Offer ongoing training and guidance to general educators and staff regarding DHH accommodations and instructional strategies
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that celebrates each student’s strengths
- Provide consultation and outreach to families, ensuring a strong home-school partnership
