Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff.
- Interpret classroom instruction and activities using American Sign Language (ASL) and other appropriate modes.
- Support individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the teaching team.
- Assist with language development and encourage student engagement in both academic and social settings.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions.
- Participate in meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required.
Qualifications:
- Experience as an educational interpreter or in a similar DHH support role preferred.
- Proficiency in ASL and a solid understanding of Deaf culture.
- Knowledge of current best practices for working with PreK and elementary students.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
- Relevant certification or training in interpreting for Deaf/Hard of Hearing populations (preferred but not required).
