Desired Qualifications:
- Current certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility for certification)
- Demonstrated experience teaching or supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting
- Proficiency using American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with a variety of communication modalities
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working alongside teachers, families, and related service providers
- Adaptability and compassion for supporting students with diverse needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum and communication methods as appropriate
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers and staff to create accommodating learning environments
- Offer resources and strategies to families and caregivers to foster student growth beyond the classroom
- Assess student progress, document outcomes, and participate actively in IEP meetings
