Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligible)
- Experience supporting deaf/hard of hearing students in educational settings
- Strong understanding of assistive technology, IEP development, and specialized instructional strategies
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities used by deaf/hard of hearing students
- Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and students of varied ages
- Flexible approach and commitment to meeting diverse learner needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing across multiple school sites
- Assess student needs and design individualized educational plans, ensuring effective access to the curriculum
- Support classroom teachers in adapting instruction and materials, and train staff on best practices
- Facilitate communication among students, staff, and families using relevant modalities
- Advocate for student accommodations and monitor progress
- Collaborate with other specialists, administrators, and community resources to maximize student outcomes
