Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (as required by state regulations)
- Experience working with K-12 students in an educational setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with staff, families, and specialists
- Willingness to serve multiple schools across the district as needed
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instructional services to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, grades K-12
- Assess student needs and create customized learning plans and goals
- Advocate for student access, accommodations, and integration within the general education curriculum
- Provide training and support to classroom teachers and staff regarding best practices and assistive technology
- Collaborate with families to foster student growth and effective communication strategies at school and home
