Qualifications and Skills:

  • Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (as required by state regulations)
  • Experience working with K-12 students in an educational setting
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with staff, families, and specialists
  • Willingness to serve multiple schools across the district as needed

Your Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative instructional services to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, grades K-12
  • Assess student needs and create customized learning plans and goals
  • Advocate for student access, accommodations, and integration within the general education curriculum
  • Provide training and support to classroom teachers and staff regarding best practices and assistive technology
  • Collaborate with families to foster student growth and effective communication strategies at school and home
  • Track student progress and maintain thorough documentation
