Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher for the Deaf / Hard of Hearing, or specialist equivalent
  • Experience supporting students with varying degrees of hearing loss, preferably in K-12 settings
  • Strong knowledge of assistive technology, communication strategies, and IEP development
  • Ability to collaborate with general and special education staff, families, and external service providers
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Passion for advocacy, accessibility, and tailoring instruction to individual student needs

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to K-12 students with hearing loss across the district
  • Assess students’ abilities and needs, participate in eligibility processes, and recommend instructional adaptations
  • Develop and deliver individualized instruction, interventions, and access supports within multiple school sites
  • Advocate for accessible learning environments and collaborate on IEP development and implementation
  • Support staff professional development in best practices for deaf / hard of hearing inclusion
  • Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, families, and community partners
