About the Role
This virtual Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) position supports K–12 students across Arizona through remote, school-based services. The role focuses on accessibility, instructional consultation, and collaboration with educational teams to ensure students who are deaf or hard of hearing have meaningful access to instruction in a virtual environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide virtual instructional support and consultation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and communication plans
- Work with general education teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and families
- Recommend and support the use of assistive listening devices and accessibility technology
- Participate in virtual IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Ensure instructional materials and classroom strategies promote accessibility and student participation
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
- Active Arizona Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing certification
- School-based experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred
- Knowledge of accessibility accommodations and assistive technology
- Virtual or telepractice experience preferred
- Teaching certification may be required depending on district.
