Qualifications and Experience:
- Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) License (required)
- Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Experience teaching or supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in a school setting
- Strong communication skills, including proficiency with ASL (preferred)
- Ability to adapt instructional materials for various learning and communication styles
- Passion for advocating for accessibility and equitable learning opportunities
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction, educational assessments, and accommodations for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to modify curriculum and implement IEP goals
- Monitor and document student progress, adapting approaches as needed
- Foster a supportive learning environment, building trust and rapport with students and families
- Consult with staff and administration on best practices and accessibility solutions
