Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid certification in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education (In California)
- Previous experience working with students in a school setting is highly desirable
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods for DHH students
- Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with general education staff, support teams, and families
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Passionate about empowering students and advocating for inclusive practices within the school
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across various grade levels
- Assess students’ academic and communication needs and adapt materials and lesson plans accordingly
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and administrative staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion
- Consult and coach teachers and staff on best practices for supporting DHH students in general education settings
- Participate in IEP meetings, contribute to assessments, and regularly communicate student progress to families
- Foster a positive, accessible learning environment using appropriate technology and resources
