Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid NC DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) teaching license required
- Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing preferred
- Strong skills in individualized instruction strategies and student advocacy
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting lesson plans to diverse learning styles
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to create accessible classroom experiences
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress and make data-driven instructional decisions
- Serve as a resource for staff and families regarding best practices and accommodations
- Ensure compliance with individualized education plans (IEPs) and participate in IEP meetings
- Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with district policies
