Qualifications and Experience:
- Current North Carolina Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing License required
- Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably within a school setting
- Familiarity with a variety of communication modes, assistive devices, and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in accordance with IEP goals
- Collaborate with general and special education staff, interpreters, and family members
- Monitor and report on student progress and adapt teaching strategies to individual needs
- Contribute to IEP meetings and support students’ transition and inclusion in all areas of school life
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for staff and families
