Qualifications:
- Current Pennsylvania Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Certification (PK–12) is required.
- Proven experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), hearing assistive technology, FM/DM systems, and cochlear implants.
- Experience developing and implementing IEP goals.
- Special education background is a plus.
- For virtual positions, prior telepractice or teletherapy experience is necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction as detailed in students’ IEPs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals tailored to hearing impairment needs.
- Consult with classroom teachers, special educators, and families to promote communication and access.
- Track student progress and maintain thorough documentation.
- Offer guidance on hearing technology and communication strategies.
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and IEP discussions.
