DHH Teacher | Mifflintown, Pennsylvania
Bring your expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support students for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position focuses on delivering specialized instruction and services to students with hearing impairments in an engaging educational environment. While in-person interaction is preferred, there is an openness to virtual delivery based on needs. The assignment will run from August 19, 2026, through May 28, 2027, with full-time hours and the specific schedule determined by student caseload and service requirements.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Pennsylvania Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Certification (PK–12)
- Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Familiarity with assistive technology and devices, including AAC, FM/DM systems, and cochlear implants
- Skill in developing, implementing, and monitoring IEP goals for students with hearing impairments
- Experience with special education practices, including supporting IEP teams and working collaboratively with fellow educators and families
- For virtual roles: Prior teletherapy or telepractice experience is a strong asset
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction as detailed in student IEPs
- Create and track achievement of individualized goals that address hearing-related needs
- Collaborate with general and special education staff and maintain open communication with families
- Advise on and support communication access and accommodations
- Monitor and document student progress accurately
- Assist students with hearing technology and optimize use of communication strategies
- Engage actively in IEP meetings and related team discussions
