A unique contract opportunity is available for a certified Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for the 2026-27 school year. This assignment offers the flexibility of in-person instruction (preferred) or virtual service, depending on your preference and student needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and services as outlined in each student's IEP
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals tailored to the unique needs of students with hearing impairments
- Work collaboratively with classroom educators, special education staff, and families to ensure a supportive learning environment
- Provide ongoing consultation regarding communication access, technology use, and accommodations
- Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and prepare required documentation
- Support students in using hearing assistive technology, including FM/DM systems, AAC devices, and cochlear implants
- Participate actively in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions to advocate for student needs
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Pennsylvania Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Certification (PK–12)
- Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Skilled at implementing technology and supports such as AAC, FM/DM systems, or cochlear implants
- Experience developing and tracking IEP goals
- Background in special education preferred
- For virtual roles: Previous experience in telepractice, teletherapy, or virtual instruction
