Ideal candidates will be adept at instructional and conversational sign language, able to foster an inclusive and encouraging learning atmosphere for middle schoolers. You’ll work alongside a dedicated team, ensuring each student’s academic and social success.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Education Specialist Instruction credential (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
- Proficiency in instructional and conversational signing.
- Experience supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is highly desirable.
- Committed to fostering a positive, inclusive middle school classroom.
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging lessons to students in grades 6-8, adapting materials to meet diverse learning needs.
- Utilize sign language to facilitate communication and comprehension in the classroom.
- Assess student progress, documenting growth and collaborating with colleagues for effective individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Create a safe, respectful, and encouraging environment, advocating for accessibility and inclusion.
- Communicate regularly with staff, parents, and related service providers to support students’ overall development.
