Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Education Specialist Instruction credential (Deaf and Hard of Hearing)
- Proficiency in instructional and conversational sign language
- Enthusiasm for working with middle school students
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with parents and staff
- Strong commitment to equitable education for all learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction and create supportive learning environments tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in grades 6-8
- Implement IEP goals and adapt curriculum to ensure accessibility and success
- Facilitate language development through use of American Sign Language and other communication strategies
- Partner with general education teachers to foster inclusive classrooms
- Collaborate with families, staff, and support services for holistic student support
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students and caregivers
